How Neurobalin Works
Pregabalin works by reducing the release of pain-related neurotransmitters in the nervous system. It calms overactive nerve signals responsible for chronic nerve pain and seizure activity. This results in reduced neuropathic pain, fewer seizures, and improved sleep quality.
Dosage
The typical starting dose is 75 mg taken once or twice daily, depending on the condition being treated. The dose may be increased gradually to a usual maximum of 300–600 mg per day if required. Dose adjustment is necessary in patients with kidney disease, and all changes should be made under medical supervision.
Side Effects
Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, weight gain, and dry mouth. Some patients may experience blurred vision or difficulty concentrating. Sudden discontinuation may cause withdrawal symptoms, so doses should be reduced gradually as advised by a healthcare professional.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Pregabalin should be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary, as there may be potential risks to the fetus. The medicine passes into breast milk; therefore, breastfeeding is usually not recommended unless specifically advised by a doctor.
Storage
- Store below 25°C in a dry place.
- Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
- Keep securely out of reach of children.
UK Regulation
Pregabalin is a Prescription Only Medicine (POM) in the United Kingdom. It is classified as a Schedule 3 controlled drug. Possession or supply without a valid prescription is illegal, and strict regulations apply due to the risk of misuse and dependence.
