How Noctin Works
Nitrazepam enhances the effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that slows brain activity. This calming action helps induce sleep, maintain better sleep quality, and control abnormal nerve firing associated with certain seizure disorders.
Dosage
Adults usually take 5–10 mg at bedtime. Elderly or debilitated patients typically start at a lower dose of 2.5–5 mg. Dosage and duration must be determined by a doctor, and treatment should be kept as short as possible to reduce the risk of tolerance and dependence.
Side Effects
Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, and reduced coordination. Long-term or improper use may lead to confusion, memory problems, tolerance, and dependence. The risk increases with prolonged or high-dose use.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Nitrazepam is not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester, due to potential risks to the fetus. Use in late pregnancy may cause withdrawal symptoms in the newborn. As nitrazepam passes into breast milk, breastfeeding should be avoided.
Storage

UK Regulation
