How Rlam Works
Alprazolam enhances the effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that suppresses excessive nerve activity in the brain. This action produces a calming effect, helping to control panic attacks and reduce anxiety.
Recommended Dosage
The usual starting dose is 0.25–0.5 mg, taken two to three times daily. Dosage may be adjusted gradually based on individual response and tolerance. Discontinuation should always be done slowly under medical supervision to minimise the risk of withdrawal symptoms.
Special Considerations
- Use with caution in elderly patients and those with liver impairment.
- Not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Alprazolam is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential risks to the unborn baby or nursing infant. Use only if specifically advised by a healthcare professional.
